What's on Tap - Bearleener
Bearleener is the name of our first Berlinerweiss, it's a take on a classic sour wheat ale from Germany. It is more acidic and has a slighter higher alcohol content then the historical version of the beer.
The name came from JFK's famous speech that he gave in Berlin after the construction of the Berlin Wall, proclaiming "Ich bin ein Berliner" which translates to I am a Berliner, pronouncing Berliner with his thick Boston accent, Bearleener.
We grew the lacto for the beer ourselves, taking 8 growlers of unhoped wort. Acidulated malt kept the growlers warm for a week keeping the best two. We have had this strain for over a year and are very happy with it.
