What's on tap - Roark Red Ale
Named after one of our Brewer's favorite fictional characters Howard Roark from Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead, a strong independent character with red hair, a Red Ale seemed to suit his name.
The Roark Red is a light easy to drink beer without the sticky sweetness found in some reds, a result of too much caramel in the brewing process. We use Munich bisket esp with Lamit and Citro hops resulting in more of a Scotch Ale then a traditional Irish Red.
Scotch Ales are technically part of the pale ale family, known for a rich malty flavor and a higher alcohol content than a Irish Red. Hops are harder to grow in Scotland so historically these beers have less of a bitter hoppy flavor than other pale ales.
